  • 1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Literally fail a quiz, beat a 1900 (although I've probably done that earlier) in chess, pull all-nighter(s), stayed up past 11:30 for a week, really thought about/understood certain things regarding my life as well as those of others, get into photo, stay with only 2 screenames (hahaha did i o_o), actively listen to non-classical, actively listen to classical that wasn't only violin concertos, take an AP class, spend more than $200 on clothes

    2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
No, I don't think I kept my resolutions. I didn't know how to make goals last year, but this year I'm expecting it to be better.

    3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
    No

    4. Did anyone close to you die?
    No

    5. What countries did you visit?
    Canada

    6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Dedication. Sticking with goals. And 230+ on psat x)

    7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
    None, specifically.

    8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Hard to say, I didn't have many large successes this year (especially when you compare it to 3rd place states last year in chess >_>)

    9. What was your biggest failure?
    2 B+'s

    10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got a minor cold once, but amazingly I haven't been sick this year.

    11. What was the best thing you bought?
    Speakers!

    12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Nobody's behavior immediately stands out, since I too often see flaws faster than good things.

    13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
It's hard to make me considerably depressed for any more than a week or two. =P

    14. Where did most of your money go?
    Clothes, recreational activities.

    15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
    Canada

    16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
    Lots. Too many to list.

    17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
    i. happier or sadder? probably a bit sadder, but leaning mostly towards apathetic
    ii. thinner or fatter? fatter
iii. richer or poorer? considerably richer =P

    18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
    Laughing, thinking, photo.

    19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
    Slacking, being too dramatic.

    20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Next year? How should I know?

    21. How will you be spending New Years Eve?
Eating Chinese potluck dinners, playing stupid but amusing games with little Chinese kids, playing CS with the other kids despite the fact that I don't even know how to play

    22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Love is too vague a term. If it was something to be photographed, every photographer would have a different picture because there are just that many angles to it. I can't say I did fall in love.

    23. How many one-night stands?
    366. If you didn't get that immediately, think more literally.

    24. What was your favorite TV program?
Iron chef, random MTV things, seinfeld, abc world news tonight

    25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
    I don't hate =P

    26. What was the best book you read?
Probably one of those devotional/inspirational books that everyone reads every so often.

    27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Oh there are just too many. Elgar violin concerto, Dvorak cello concerto, Elgar cello concerto, Chopin posthum. nocturnes, alternative rock, A-pop (asian), anime music, soundtrack music, Dvorak A major piano quintet, Wieniawski concertos, Bach Chaconne, Rach piano concerto 2, Tchaik piano concertos 1, 2, Tchaik symphonies, Sibelius symphonies, scheherazade

Narnia, but I haven't seen geisha yet

    31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

    Good habits.

    33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
At first it was kind of preppy. But now it's just what you find at gap - casual formal.

    34. What kept you sane?
Don't beg the question; I was always sane and was going to be sane to begin with.

    35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
    Shrugs.

    36. What political issue stirred you the most?
None, since I'm normally annoyed with both sides of the issue for being too hotheaded, shortsighted, inconsiderate.

    37. Who did you miss?
    People.

    38. Who was the best new person you met?
That kid at Jimmy's party yesterday. Interesting character. We kind of hated each other in such an amusing way.

    39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004
2005, you mean? Your life is purposeless and meaningless unless you make your own purpose.

  • Along with steven's family, 16 other families and my cousin, our family went to Seven Springs Ski resort in PA. We stayed from friday - monday.

There was a plethora of asian people there. Upon entering the lobby, we saw a couple packages of ramen boxes being carried around. The asian population almost rivaled that of TJ. Oddly enough, there were like 10 TJ people there. It was scary. We saw Ivan, Cassandra, Sherwin, Jeff C., Zahra, Amy, Andrew Li, Joe (although he doesnt know who I am and he doesnt go to TJ), couple of juniors and seniors... and I'm forgetting a lot of people.

Skiing was fun. I've never skied before and started friday night... it was kind of funny. Took me like 5 something minutes to get up a 2 foot hill. Next day I went up the slope and managed to fall only 3 times on my first slope (which was double green -_-). Later I found Cassandra and we attempted to do a blue. We (which means I, and then Cassandra had to follow me down to help me get up) ended up falling down into a wood. We kept on falling, and it was so steep that every time I got up I fell back down again. Later I found out that that wood was a double black diamond. Next day it was raining so we had to stay inside. George and I played like 15 games of pool... I think over the 3 days we spent at least $20+ on pool games. Some random guys came up to us and were like, "OMFG ITS GEORGE ZHAO DONT YOU REMEMBER ME GEORGE I WAS IN YOUR IBET OMGLOLWTF." The rain cleared up so we went up, and after a few hours I was good enough to attempt my first blues. The fog was amazing for photography, except you couldn't see any more than like 2 feet in front of you. Then it got dark and it was scary as hell. George pretended to hum themes from horror movies as we went up on the ski lift. It snowed the following day, which was annoying as anything cause my dad had the only goggles that our family owned. It was especially windy when we got to the top of the slope. It felt like shards of glass hitting your face -_-. I could barely ski double greens that day cause I couldnt keep my eyes open... until finally my dad gave me his goggles so I could attempt some other blues. Amazingly, I didnt fall much. The one time I did, however, there was ice stuck to the bottom of my boot so I couldn't put my ski on. It took me like 10 minutes to figure out why the skis didn't fit... it was pretty embarrassing.

    View from the hotel.

As you can see, the fog was pretty heavy up top.

    Fog.

Yay for seven springs (except for not really, they ripped everyone off.)

    omg, FFFFFF white.

    That speck is George.

Frozen lake-pond at the top of the slopes.

    Snow o_o
